Years ago tinted lacquer was a great solution for cabinet painting: it dries fast, is easily sprayable, has a smooth finish, and is chemical resistant. Most cabinet factories nowadays still spray lacquer on new cabinets.
But the downside is that lacquer fumes are super toxic, and they do not dissipate quickly. In a factory environment it is much easier to control airflow and make sure that all workers are properly masked and protected.
But what about painting kitchen cabinets inside your Las Vegas home?
Imagine a toxic chemical sprayed on your cabinets: kitchen, bathroom, laundry room… and then it continues to off-gas inside your house for 30-40 days. Painters who use lacquer on cabinets will justify it for appearance and performance, but they cannot escape the fact that lacquer will remain toxic inside your home for 30-40 days. Sometimes the painter will tell you to leave your house for 3-6 days during the painting, but after you come home you’ll get a whiff of those heavy odors every time you open your cabinet door.
So how does Spray ‘n Coat Painting in Las Vegas paint kitchen cabinets? With next-generation waterborne wood coatings!
We are well-familiar with lacquers; we used to use them. But we’ve been pushing the envelope, product testing new technology for over 10 years. Each year the waterborne coatings get better and better, allowing modern painters to leave behind the harmful chemicals of the past.
The new waterborne cabinet coatings are more chip-resistant than lacquer, hold their color better, are more flexible, easier to touch-up, and much less toxic. When applied properly, they spray smooth like glass and have a beautiful sheen.
Lacquer is by nature more brittle and prone to minor cracking, whereas all of this new waterborne paint resin technology is not.
No longer do our painters have to deal with using lacquer fumes day after day, and you the customer get a healthier experience and better over-all finish.
